Classic Valve Design is a Canadian company focused on helping the average person get into the wonderful world of vacuum tube audio.
How this is accomplished is simple - designs that are straightforward using quality, readily available components from reputable sources. Finding the gems of vacuum tube technology that have been forgotten in the dust of time and perform exquisitely for audio reproduction. Using logic and engineering skills to extract maximum performance from the chosen design and tube, rather than magical woods or finishes.
Outsourcing is also kept to a minimum, enhancing cost effectiveness while increasing quality control. Our chassis are handmade on premesis and default cabinet woods are local species and are also cut and finished by us (exotic wood is of course available pending availability for extra).
Our iron has one of four sources. We have a partner that does most of our custom power and output transformers to our specifications, as well as our printed circuit and tagboards. We also use EDCOR USA for HiFi output transformers and higher power, power transformers. Occasionally we will use Hammond Canada for power transformers and most prototypes or one-off transformers, power or output are handwound right here by us.
