The lower the level of audio a stage has to handle, the more stringent the power supply purity requirement.

A regulated power supply with smaller capacitors is far superior to a standard power supply with thousands of microfarads of expensive, high voltage capacitor.

PB 6SN7GT Based Linestage
The PB Linestage was developed at the request of a client who desired a little extra control over his music.

Sometimes music sources aren't exactly calibrated for an industry standard output for a given input or other reference. Sometimes this value can be much higher or lower. This linestage was built with the idea that as well as a level control, a switch could be flipped to change the overall stage gain up or down by a certain amount.

For best hum and noise performance, this linestage features a vacuum tube regulated power supply with accurate 5651 reference tube as the regulation reference source. Vacuum rectifier assures slower application of high voltage for maximum tube life.

In order to accomodate the equally good performing, but less expensive 12SN7GT tubes, the linestage came with switch selectable 6V or 12V heater power. (Rear pic)

Input and output jacks are isolated from the chassis, mounted on a finished thin of cocobolo wood.

Choice grain oiled BC softwood adds to the aesthetics. (Side pic)
